ANZ Bank employees are feeling blue this week – but they’re excited about it.
The bank’s Casey and Greater Dandenong branches have been busy raising vital funds for Dandenong Valley School in Narre Warren.
Blue Week has been running since Monday, and finishes tomorrow (Friday).
ANZ branches from Berwick, Cranbourne, Dandenong, Endeavour Hills, Fountain Gate, Hampton Park, Parkmore and Springvale have participated.
Activities have included selling blue-coloured doughnuts and cupcakes, holding morning teas with customers, selling piggy banks and running competitions in which customers guess how many jellybeans are in a jar.
ANZ service quality manager for the Dandenong area Eddy Leo said the response from customers had been superb.
“It’s absolutely fantastic, we’ve had a lot of customers coming in and making donations,” he said.
“One handed over a $50 donation and said they didn’t want anything in return, and another bought a cup of coffee with a $20 note and donated the change.”
ANZ staff have also dressed up in blue, decorated their branches in blue, and are “having a great time”, Mr Leo said.
The proceeds will go to Dandenong Valley School, which caters for disabled children who can not study in mainstream education.
The bank is also hoping to raise awareness of the school by promoting it to the local community.
