TWO people were trapped in separate car smashes and a threecar pileup caused traffic chaos in a nightmare week of road trauma across Dandenong.
On 3 November, an Endeavour Hills woman was trapped in a car after colliding with a concrete power pole.
The woman, 22, was driving a Holden Commodore sedan on the South Gippsland Highway near the Dandenong Lunar DriveIn when she crashed at about 4am.
The Pplater was trapped for 40 minutes while the Dandenong Rescue crew and Hallam Pumper attempted to free her from the car.
Police said heavy rain and lightning hampered the last stages of the rescue call.
The woman, who was flown to hospital by air ambulance, was said to be in a serious condition.
A second woman was trapped in an unrelated incident on Springvale Road last Saturday.
The 82yearold and her 51yearold driver were turning right into a car park near Fairview Street while travelling south along Springvale Road, Springvale North at 11am.
The Mitsubishi Magna and an oncoming Toyota Coupe collided leaving the elderly woman trapped.
Dandenong CFA Rescue Crew had to release a jammed door to free the woman, who was taken to hospital by ambulance where she was in a stable condition. Others involved in the incident were treated onsite by paramedics.
Meanwhile, a threecar smash on FrankstonDandenong Road on the railway bridge near Lonsdale Street in Dandenong, caused traffic congestion, on Tuesday. Only one car was towed and noone was hurt. Dandenong Traffic Management Unit attended the incident.
