Noble Park North’s Carwatha College helped rejuvenate the environment on Friday when they planted trees to celebrate Schools Tree Day.
They were part of thousands of students who planted trees across Australia as part of the official National Tree Day on Sunday.
State Member for Mulgrave, Daniel Andrews MP, joined students on the tree planting day and said he hoped Australia achieved its goal of planting one million trees.
“Planting droughtresistant native trees, not only beautifies our area, but it also helps the environment and provides young people with a sense of achievement as they watch their particular tree grow,” Mr Andrews said.
Between Friday and Sunday it was estimated 1.2 million trees were planted by 320,000 volunteers across Australia.
