KEYSBOROUGH bowler Karl Krings is rolling up a storm in a sport where weight really matters.
The talented lawn bowler is ready to take on some of Victoria’s best.
The 45-year-old from Hallam had a stellar season last year and the signs this season indicate another jack-high performance.
After winning the Keysborough Bowling Club championships last season, Krings took on the best bowlers in the south-eastern suburbs and won.
The victory gave him the right to challenge the 16 best in Victoria.
“I ended up playing a state league bowler and got beat 22-25.
“But it was my greatest bowling achievement to date,” Krings said.
Krings took up the sport when living in Ararat, before moving to Hallam and signing on with Keysborough.
“I couple of my good mates were playing down there, so I joined and love it,” he said.
Krings is playing in the Royal Victorian Bowls Association’s division two, section six competition, and is juggling his bowling at the club with group championship trials.
“The trials are in Moama and everything is going well.
“It’s hard to be confident that you’ll make the grade when there are division-one bowlers rolling up, but I’m happy,” Krings said.
The group championships are not until January but, if Krings can keep his good form, the wait will be worth it.
