
A CLUB record sixth-wicket partnership of 123 between Damien Fleming and Jon Stones got Noble Park through to victory against Kingston Saints in their Premier League match on Saturday.
Coming together on the tea break at a precarious 5/151, the pair was untroubled in seeing the total past Kingston Saints first innings total of 8/253.
Fleming was dismissed for 77 off 73 balls with Stones finishing 50 not out.
Noble’s chase of the visitors score got off to a shaky start with Andrew O’Meara and Andrew Brown having a bit of a mix up in the middle that saw Brown run out with the total on 13.
Gavin Hurley and O’Meara then consolidated the innings adding 78 runs before O’Meara was adjudged lbw for 35.
It was quickly 3/91 off 28 overs when Hurley missed one the next over to be bowled for 37.
Rod Douthie and Paul Hill shared a 60-run stand before Douthie (43) was bowled in the 43rd over.
Hill followed on the last ball before tea being dismissed lbw for 17 with the score on 5/151.
Stones and Fleming then took the game away from the visitors with their record partnership with the side reaching 6/279 at stumps.
Half centuries to Chris Lee and Sharni Perera ensured the 2nd XI passed Kingston’s total of 107 was passed with the loss of only one wicket.
Resuming at 1/26 Lee and Perera took the total to 110 before Lee was out for 57.
When Perera was out for 67 the total had reached 3/163. Darren Seccull (21), Warren Dickman (36) and Paul O’Meara (26 not out) taking the total to 5/237 at the close of play.
The 3rd XI recorded its first win for the season dismissing Kingston Saints for 176 in reply to their 253.
The Andrews caused the damage with Andrew Borovac taking 3/16 off 14 overs, Andrew Love 2/13 off seven and Andrew Murray 2/50 off 20 overs.
The 4th XI got revenge for last week’s loss, defeating Kingston Saints by 19 runs.
Led by Fabian Jurie who made 52 the 4th XI reached 8/150 off its 40 overs with Jason Bradshaw (27) and Matt Ferguson (20) ensuring a competitive total.
In reply Kingston could only manage 9/131 with Matt Ferguson finishing with 3/24 off his eight overs the best of the bowlers.
This week is a big test for the club with all four sides playing Caulfield, the yardstick of the competition.
