Panthers claw Melbourne attack

Glen Atwell
A WORKINGCLASS century to Dandenong Cricket Club firsts opener Matthew Chasemore has rocketed his side to a winning position in his team’s twoday Premier League match against Melbourne at Shepley Oval.
The Panthers clawed the Melbourne bowlers and amassed 5/344 from their 100 overs.
Chasemore (132) and 16yearold batting sensation Kumar Sana (80) took advantage of perfect batting conditions and had Melbourne in a spin, combining to post a 212run opening partnership.
The duo faced 457 balls before Sarna was deceived by a Matthew Pinniger spinner and stumped by Melbourne wicketkeeper Peter Nevill.
Chasemore belted 14 boundaries in his innings before also being stumped off a Joshua Mangan delivery.
The Dandenong batsmen continued reading the Melbourne bowling attack like a book as Warren Ayres belted 70 of 82 deliveries in an innings that included three sixes and eight fours.
Timothy Hooper (35) helped push the Panthers score over 300 and set the Melbourne team a mammoth total.
Mangan was the pick of the Melbourne bowlers, collecting 3/105 off his 34over effort.
With Peter Siddle back in the bowling attack after his ING Cup debut for Victoria last week, the Dandenong bowlers will be looking to gain early dominance over the Melbourne batting lineup.
If Siddle and Paul Boraston can find the groove and collect early wickets, the 344 set by the Panthers should prove too strong for the Melbourne team.
