MORE than 1300 primary school students gathered at the Springvale City Hall on Tuesday, 6 March for special musical performance by The Song Room.
Primary schools participating included Keysborough Park, Springvale West, Noble Park, St Anthony’s, Cranbourne Park, Springvale, Doveton Heights and Springvale English Language School.
The Song Room is a not-for-profit charitable organisation which aims to ensure that all Australian children have the opportunity to participate in music and the performing arts.
The organisation says research has revealed as few as 23 per cent of government school students have access to music at school.
The Song Room provides access to music through workshops, performance programs, instrument donation, and research and development.
Children disadvantaged through economic circumstances, geographic isolation, disability or recent immigrant status are given the opportunity to participate in this creative learning experience free of charge, thanks to the work of The Song Room.
