THE Moorabbin Kangaroos will win this year’s Southern Football League (SFL) Division Three premiership by 10 goals, according to Southern Cobras coach Stephen Jasiak.
After playing both the Doveton Eagles and Moorabbin Kangaroos, Jasiak said there was notable difference in class between the two premiership contenders.
“There is a big gulf in class. The Kangaroos are much better,” he said.
“The difference would be at least 10 goals.
Jasiak’s prediction comes in the face of the Eagles beating the Kangaroos by 51 points in round nine.
But Jasiak believes the Kangaroos have since improved out of sight.
“They are a big, dominating team and their full forward Dimashki kicked 16 goals on the weekend,” he said.
“He will be hard to stop.”
With the SFL finals scheduled to be played at Mordialloc, Jasiak concedes the size of the ground will work in the Eagles’ favour.
“The Kangaroos’ home ground is very small and the Eagles will be able to adapt to the big Mordialloc ground a lot better,” he said.
“But that won’t be enough for them to win.”
Eagles coach Paul Wilson rejected the predictions.
“Stephen is entitled to his opinion, but we will prepare the boys for a battle,” he said.
“We can only go off the scores in our last encounter with the Kangaroos.
Wilson said this was not the Eagles’ only advantage.
“The matchups work well for us, and the size of the Mordialloc ground will also help.”
Current form suggests supporters will be treated to a grand final preview on 13 August, when the Eagles and Kangaroos clash at Moorabbin before both sides enter the finals as equal premiership favourites.
“At least the grand final won’t be onesided,” Jasiak said.
“It’s going to be very interesting.”
