THE red carpet was rolled out in Dandenong last Wednesday night for the official opening of the new Reading Cinema complex.
More than 190 guests were wined and dined at the Dandenong Plaza complex before enjoying an advance screening of The Mummy – Tomb of the Dragon Emperor movie.
Belly dancers welcomed guests as they arrived to the pre-screening party at 6.30pm.
The master of ceremonies for the night was Australian comedian and television presenter Tim Ferguson.
Project director for GPT Peter Thomas and managing director of Reading Australia Wayne Smith both made speeches to mark the opening.
But the talk of the night was the door prize, won by Star News Group journalist Glen Atwell.
The prize was a Reading Cinemas gold card, which entitles the holder to two free movie tickets, every day, for a year.
Guests also received complimentary chocolate bars and soft drinks once inside the state of the art cinema.
The cinema complex features a contemporary colour scheme with wall to wall screens, digital sound and brand new stadium seating.
The new cinemas will be screening the latest movies, ranging from mainstream through to specialty films.
