Crowd warms to show

By Melissa Meehan
THOUSANDS of people soaked up the sunshine for a great day out at the Dandenong Show over the weekend.
Perfect weather ensured a weekend of fun for families who enjoyed numerous rides, carnival games, show bags and the animal nursery just to name a few.
Held by the Dandenong Agricultural and Pastoral Society (DAPS), numbers were up on last year with final numbers estimated to reach 12,500.
Following last year’s absence the horses were a large draw card, with DAPS reporting a good level of entries in all classes.
There were also a large number of entries in the Beaute Ute competition and art and craft exhibits proved to be another popular part of the Show.
Traditionally a family day Sunday provided plenty of fun and entertainment for young and old alike.
Police described the overall behaviour of the crowd as well behaved.
