CELEBRATION is the starting point for building communities.
Big House Communities and a number of Dandenong churches have taken it upon themselves to provide an opportunity for the whole community to celebrate.
On Saturday 29 November, Hemmings Park will be transformed into the venue of a massive celebration.
Event organiser Andre Van Eymeren said the park will be filled with activities from kids’ craft, to giant community games just to name a few.
“Everyone is welcome to play or cheer on as others do,” he said.
“Food and drink will be served with a smile and while mum and dad enjoy a sit down, the kids can have a go at the craft or get their face painted.”
There will also be a stage show as part of the day, where local cultural groups and others will be singing and dancing up a storm.
“The best part is that it’s all for free,” Mr Van Eymeren said.
Supported by the Dandenong Ministers’ Fellowship, the day is open to the whole community.
“We wanted to provide a totally free day, a gift to the community as we come into the season where we remember another gift that changed the world,” said Max Walker, director of Cornerstone.
“Dandenong is made up of people from 156 different countries, an event like the fun day is an opportunity for those groups to come together, and show the world that it is possible to live in harmony”
The Dandenong Family Fun Day will be held this weekend at Hemmings Park, between 10am and 3pm.
