WALKER St Gallery in Dandenong is looking for female artists for the annual national ‘She’ competition. The work of 45 finalists will be on show in an exhibition between 2 and 26 March.
The theme of the competition this year is ‘She – Who discovers.’
The competition invites female artists to send in contemporary works of all styles, including sculpture, painting, textiles, and ceramics.
The exhibition originated nine years ago to celebrate International Women’s Day, and it has become bigger and better each year.
Applicants are required to send in images of their work. A pre-selection will take place to choose the finalists. Two winners will exhibit new works at the sponsoring galleries, Frankston Art Gallery and Darebin Art and Entertainment Centre.
Winners will be announced on opening night 5 March.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for both emerging and established artists to express themselves,” said visual arts coordinator of the gallery, Jacqueline Schultze.
‘She – Who discovers’ will be an opportunity for the public to view an eclectic body of works that resonates with the theme of exploration.
Applications close Monday 21 January. For further info call Walker St Gallery on 97068441.
