Children find a hope saver

Children in Vietnam will benefit from funds raised at the Lunar New Year Festival in Springvale.By M
DISADVANTAGED kids in Vietnam will receive $300 from Springvale’s Bank of Queensland (BOQ) branch after they threw their support behind Hands for Hope charity at Springvale’s Lunar New Year Festival late last month.
BOQ Springvale owner-manager Vinh Ly said his branch held a ‘Knock em Down’ ball-throw fundraising competition for festival-goers to win prizes, with all the proceeds going to Hands for Hope (H4H).
“Our team is excited that we donated $300 to this wonderful charity which does so much to improve the lives of disadvantaged children in Vietnam through education, health and infrastructure projects,” Mr Ly said.
“It was really great to see people get involved in our competition to support our Hands for Hope fundraising efforts and have a lot of fun doing it.
“We are thrilled that our first sponsorship activity for Hands for Hope was a success and we’re looking forward to doing more fundraising in the local community this year.”
Mr Ly presented the cheque from his branch to H4H president Nhan Nguyen on stage during the festival concert on Sunday night.
Ms Nguyen said H4H are very excited to have Bank of Queensland Springvale as their community fundraising partner.
“As a non-profit organisation, we rely solely on community support and this provides great encouragement for the underprivileged children that we help and for our members alike.
“On behalf of Hands for Hope, I would like to express my gratitude to Vinh and his team for all their effort and support,” Ms Nguyen said.
