Goal for fire

DANDENONG Basketball Association and Volleyball Victoria are calling on their respective members to help out the victims of Victoria’s devastating bushfires.
Clothing bins have been set up at Dandenong Stadium and members are encouraged to give what they can.
The Dandenong Rangers WNBL side will also wear black armbands during Saturday’s clash with Bendigo and the teams will observe a minute’s silence before the game.
The same will happen with the under-15 state volleyball team before training at Stud Road.
DBA marketing manager Deb Weston said she hoped the two sports could make an impact.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for members of our basketball and volleyball communities to help out at this tragic time,” she said.
Basketball Victoria has launched an appeal for donations, contributing $5000 and encouraging people to donate towards the cause by phoning 9927 6666.
