LESS than 13 seconds is all it takes.
Noble Park’s Michael Baptist and Adam Clayton Hawkins took just 12.70 seconds to connect the hose to the pump and run the hose out.
Their time won them third place behind a team from Maffra who won with 12.39 seconds and Esperance at the CFA Junior State Championships.
The two youths, both 17, are junior members of Noble Park’s CFA.
Proud mum and CFA Noble Park secretary Sharon Baptist said the boys were not only judged on the time taken to connect the hoses to pumps, but also on their precision.
“The boys have been competing in these competitions for over four years,” she said.
“It is just great that they were able to get a place this year.”
They made the trip to Hamilton to join hundreds of other junior CFA members.
Michael and Adam train every Friday night in Noble Park.
They have just reached the age where they can join the regular CFA.
“The junior CFA members are trained to learn the skills needed in the field,” Ms Baptist said. “They also help with fund-raisers – the junior side is really important.”
