Brittania Metal Industries has become a leader in metal parts fabrication, and manufactures the highest quality pressure vessels, heat exchangers, refrigeration vessels and air receivers’ custom built.
The diligent and passionate staff has helped create the company’s success, earning Brittania Metal Industries this year’s Employment Award.
The company began during the war in 1941, when a few mates had difficulties finding products, in particular, plumbing products such as downpipes and gutters.
Sixty-five years later, the business has made a large transformation. In 1997 Martin Solomon became a part owner of the business and began implementing changes and improvements that earned the business a nominee of the Premier Regional Business Awards this year.
He is passionate about his work and has invested a large amount of time and money into his company. His efforts have helped Brittania double in turnover and employees over the last seven to eight years.
Brittania currently turns over in excess of $10 million and has more than 50 employees.
Mr Solomon said he owed a lot of the success of the company to devoted and proficient employees.
“I think the company’s greatest accomplishment is the continuous improvement of skills of the staff – and dedication of our staff,” he said.
More than 25 per cent of Brittania’s employees have over 10 years’ service.
The company also prides itself on its ability to recycle, as water is an important part of their pressure vessel process. In 2000, the company invested in water tanks to dramatically reduce its use of water.
Mr Solomon said he was proud of the company’s accomplishments and hoped to remain successful in the years to come.
“It is great to be recognised as a leading manufacturer in the Dandenong area,” he said.
“I hope we can maintain our excellent business record well into the future.”
