DANDENONG bakers are calling for customers to make their hot cross buns really count this Easter by raising valuable dough for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal on Saturday 28 March.
On “Bundraiser Day” Bakers Delight Parkmore and Dandenong Plaza will join hundreds of people across the state to help raise more than $25,000 to buy vital equipment for children with hearing difficulties, by donating to the Good Friday Appeal $1 from every six pack of hot cross buns sold.
Funds raised will go towards buying a middle-ear analyser for the Royal Children’s Hospital’s audiology department, which will assess hearing impairment in children from infancy to adolescence.
Good Friday Appeal director Christine Unsworth said: “The Good Friday Appeal is one of the biggest fundraising initiatives in Victoria and it brings together people from the community to help raise money for our hospital.”
Michael Ermer, regional manager for Bakers Delight Victoria, said: “We’ve been baking our hot cross buns for over 29 years and they are our biggest sellers at this time of year. We wanted to take advantage of this by giving something back to the community.”
Over the years Bakers Delight has developed a variety of flavours to satisfy hot cross cravings of all kinds.
This Easter, Bakers Delight bakeries have added a new decadent mocha hot cross bun to their range of traditional, fruitless and choc chip varieties.
