TWO local schools will share in $2.85 million for major infrastructure works handed out in the first round of the Federal Government’s Building Education Revolution program.
Isaacs MP Mark Dreyfus announced that Mt Hira College in Keysborough and Lighthouse Christian College would benefit from the program.
Mt Hira College will receive $850,000 to build a new multi-purpose hall and gymnasium that will give students a modern venue for school sports and school assemblies.
Lighthouse Christian College will receive $2 million to establish a learning resource centre which will enhance the learning experience of students and help them achieve their full potential.
Mark Dreyfus said the funding was an opportunity for local primary and P-12 schools to bring their facilities into the 21st century.
“I’ve spoken to both Mt Hira and Lighthouse Christian Colleges, and I know how rapt they are to be able to get these important projects underway so that their students can reap the benefits of these modern facilities,” Mr Dreyfus said.
