AUSMELT Ltd is bucking the trend of the economic downturn.
The Dandenong company recently won its second lead smelter contract in China. The lead smelter will have the capacity to produce 60,000 tonnes of lead a year to Hulunbeier Chihong Mining Limited in China’s inner Mongolia province.
Under the contract, Ausmelt will provide lead smelting technology, design engineering services, commissioning services and equipment. Global sales and marketing manager Stephen Hughes described Ausmelt as a specialised technology company.
“We rely on new technology to maintain our place in the market,” he said.
“It is critical to keep changing.” Listed on the stock market, the company is expected to deliver earnings up to $3 million in 2009.
