Passing of

By Melissa Meehan
Arthur Edward Williams passed away on Saturday, aged 84, after a battle with cancer.
Dandenong RSL treasurer John Filmer said Mr Williams’ death was a great loss to the RSL and community.
“He was on the committee of management and a treasurer for a long time,” Mr Filmer said.
“Right up until November last year he was still helping out.
“He accompanied me to 15 schools to deliver and pick up poppies they were selling for welfare.”
Mr Williams was a member of the RAAF who was assigned to serve with the Royal Air Force for 17 months as a turret gunner. He flew 17 operations over enemy territory in Europe and worked with other Australians. Mr Filmer said Mr Williams was a highly respected person.
“It is a great loss for us, he was a lovely person,” Mr Filmer said.
“He leaves behind a very loving family and many friends.”
