A RIDE through memory lane can be enjoyed with the release of Grenda’s commemorative booklet.
The booklet titled ‘Moved by Grenda’s’ is to be launched Wednesday evening at Grenda’s new Cheltenham Road building.
The booklet features stories and photos about the operation and demolition of the company’s Foster Street depot.
City of Greater Dandenong’s project co-ordinator Jenny Pemberton-Webb said the booklet was an account of the depot’s rich history.
“It has been a privilege to record and celebrate a local company that has helped so many through the service of public transport,” Ms Pemberton-Webb said.
Grenda’s staff were asked to share their stories about their time at the company and their roles as bus drivers, mechanics and even upholstery repairers.
Ms Pemberton-Webb said the staff’s stories and other shared memories made for a fascinating collection of quotes and illustrated what work meant for a lot of people.
Writer David Crofts compiled the booklet which is accompanied by a collection of photographs captured by Hilton Stone.
