THE Robert Booth Reserve could soon be home to a mobile telecommunications monopole.
United Group Services (UGS), acting on behalf of 3GIS Pty Ltd (3GIS), approached council with a request to install a monopole under lease at the Clow Street reserve.
The initial offer from UGS was to swap and replace an existing floodlight pole at the reserve with a combined monopole and floodlight.
Council officers negotiated with UGS, subject to approval, to install in a new location a combined monopole with eight times 1000 watts of floodlighting.
At Monday night’s council meeting, councillors voted to advertise the proposed lease and form a sub-committee to consider any submissions arising from the intent to lease. Submissions will need to be received within 28 days of it being advertised.
