WOMEN’S Better World aims to support and empower Afghan women living in the Greater Dandenong area.
At a forum to be held at Chisholm Institute, Dandenong, Afghan women can learn of the organisation’s services, clarify referral processes and network with other service providers.
With Afghan women being among the most underprivileged ethnic groups in the world, Women’s Better World’s mission is to empower them to become involved and integrated in to the local community.
The group’s president Mandy Ahmadi said they work to give Afghan women a chance to have a better life here in Australia.
“This group of women find it the most difficult to adapt to the lifestyle here,” she said.
Once a week the organisation holds an evening of hairdressing classes and make-up sessions. “The lessons are filled with encouragement, fellowship, fun activities followed by some refreshments,” Ms Ahmadi said.
The forum will be held on Thursday, 15 October, at Chisholm Institute, Dandenong Campus, from 9am to noon.
For details on the forum or the group contact Mandy on 0433 626 855.
