He has only been in the country for four years and already he has the seventh best average in Australia.
North Dandenong cricketer Javid Khan is only 15-years old yet has an astounding average of 344 from six under-17 matches.
Khan, who also plays Turf One cricket for North Dandenong as a bowler, has made scores of above 60 four times including hitting out to 85 against Narre North before he was dismissed for the only time this season.
Moving to Australia from Afghanistan at the age of 11, Khan is also hailed a “dominant footballer” by club president Kevin Leonard.
“Yeah, I go alright,” a modest Khan said about his natural sporting ability.
Initially, Khan had no idea about his average and when he was informed by The Star on his amazing feat, he immediately dedicated it to his brothers and hard-working coaches.
“I train three or four days a week with my brothers and the club has helped me a lot,” said Khan.
Khan now has an uphill battle to retain his average as he faces the prospect of opening the batting when North Dandenong returns from the Christmas break.
“I’m just going to keep working hard,” Khan said.
