Ridges double

CONGRATULATIONS to Buckley Ridges on two fronts in their recent Twenty20 matches.
Firstly they were successful in the Sandown Sixes Twenty20 grand final on Wednesday 3 February against Dandenong West, giving them their third consecutive DDCA Twenty20 premiership, a might effort.
The Westerners batted first and made a competitive 9/154, with opener Greg Siwes top scoring with 40.
However, the boys from the Manor passed this score in the 16th over, only four wickets down, with D. J. Watson smashing a lusty 56, supported by Ruwan Jayadeva who made 46.
Both teams received a cheque for $400 with Buckley Ridges also winning a $500 kit of cricket gear courtesy of Cannon Indoor Sports Centre, Narre Warren and the T20 Premiership Cup.
On Sunday 7 February, Buckley ventured out to Donvale Reserve, to take on Keilor CC in the (VMCU) metropolitan final of the Kookaburra Statewide T20 Cup.
Batting first, Keilor managed to make only 7/92 off their allotted 20 overs, with Paul Rudd taking 3/14.
Buckley Ridges made the runs easily, only four wickets down in the 17th over, with Chris Batchelor top scoring with 56 not out.
This now puts Buckley Ridges into the final of the Kookaburra Statewide T20 Cup at the MCG on Sunday 21 February against the winner of the Victorian Country Cricket League (VCCL) final, Wendouree CC from the Ballarat association.
The winner of this match takes home $1500 and the Kookaburra T20 Cup with the runner-up being awarded $1000.
The game starts at 2.15pm and no doubt Buckley Ridges would enjoy the support of as many DDCA people as possible.
This is the second DDCA side to make the Statewide T20 final in the three years it has been running and we hope that Buckley Ridges can go one better than Springvale South two years ago.
