NEW playgrounds will be built at local schools affected by the Building the Education Revolution (BER) construction works.
Three schools in Greater Dandenong will be among 80 schools in Victoria to benefit from the State Government’s decision to reinstate playgrounds, hard courts and car parks removed as part of the project.
Chandler Park Primary School will receive $40,000, Dandenong North Primary School will receive $48,000 and Heatherhill Primary School will receive $30,000 to rebuild their playgrounds.
South Eastern Metropolitan Region MP and Parliamentary Secretary for EducationInga Peulich welcomed the decision.
“This is a win for Chandler Park, Dandenong North and Heatherhill Primary Schools and the local community as playgrounds and hard courts play a vital role in student engagement, learning, social skills and physical education,” Ms Peulich said.
“Children across the statewill be able to enjoy these newplay areas, which are essentialfor a well-rounded education.”
The funding is part of a $5 million commitment to reinstate facilities lost during the Federal BER program.
