DANDENONG Hospital will receive funding for more beds.
The Federal Minister for Health and Ageing Nicola Roxon and Bruce MP Alan Griffin announced funding of $4 million last week, which will pay for an acute assessment unit with 24 beds. Mr Griffin said it was welcome news for the Greater Dandenong community.
“It means better health services for residents, giving them access to the health care they need closer to home,” he said.
“This announcement shows how national health reform is delivering more beds and more services locally.”
State South Eastern Metropolitan Region MP Inga Peulich said the funding would provide improved access for residents.
“The funding will support the Victorian Government’s commitment to improved access to elective surgery, treatment in emergency department and sub-acute care,” Ms Peulich said.
“The south-east community welcome this extra funding to improve Victoria’s hospital network.”
The new beds are part of the Federal Government’s funding of Victorian projects announced as part of national health reform.
