AT 100 years old, Edna McWilliams keeps her fingers nimble by crocheting rugs for the Country Women’s Association.
The resident of TLC’s Noble Gardens aged care home in Noble Park recently celebrated her milestone birthday with a ‘huge party’.
Edna was surrounded by her children, five grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren during the party, where she thanked her family for everything they had done to make her milestone celebration something special.
General manager of TLC Noble Gardens Susan Pangbourne said the birthday celebration was very exciting.
“We’ll have a party for virtually any reason at all, but a 100th birthday is extra special and Edna is dearly loved by her extended family of over 150 residents and staff,” Ms Pangbourne said.
Edna has been a member of the CWA for over 50 years and continues to crochet rugs which are donated to the Glenallen Special School, Noble Park Special Developmental School, the Monash Cancer Centre and Ronald McDonald House.
She has kept a collection of photos from some of the children who received her blankets and Edna said this is her inspiration to ‘keep on keeping on’.
