STUDENTS in Greater Dandenong eagerly awaited text messages and checked the internet on Friday morning for their VCE results.
Schools across the board reported good results and very happy students.
Martin Culkin, principal at Dandenong High School, said the results overall had improved on last year and everyone was pleased with the result.
“We are very pleased with all the students who completed the VCE this year,” he said.
“Quite a number of students said they got better results than they thought.”
The dux of the school received an ATAR score of 97.8 and 30 per cent of students received a score over 70.
“It’s a great credit to teaching staff, students and families that helped them through a tough time.” Keysborough Secondary College principal Heather Lindsay said there were some outstanding results across the three campuses.
“We’re looking at some really good results across the board,” she said.
“I’m sure there are some very happy students from our school.”
Ms Lindsay said many students received scores about 80 and some students were accepted into RMIT before they got their results.
She said the school was also working with some students who didn’t do as well as they would have liked.
“As a school, it is not just about results but about the pathways the students take.”
Lighthouse Christian College head of secondary school Graham Broderick said every student should be proud they worked at their capacity.
Of the graduating class of 32, 25 per cent achieved an ATAR score above 93.
Graduating student Madhulika Kumar was dux with a score of 97.55.
She plans to go to Monash University to study business/accounting.
