A GOOD Samaritan was left with stab wounds after trying to stop a shoplifter in Dandenong at noon on Saturday.
Police said the 32-year-old Hampton Park man was caught stealing from the Myer store and chased by security guards.
A 50-year-old local shopper also took after the alleged thief and was stabbed twice with a knife when he tried to stop the man. He suffered two minor wounds.
Police said the offender was apprehended by other witnesses, security and police, and paramedics treated the good Samaritan.
The would-be thief was charged with property offences and offences against the person.
