A MAN wearing a red bandana may be able to assist police in their investigation into a house fire in Herbert Street.
Police are treating a fire that gutted the abandoned house at 4.30pm on Monday as suspicious and believe the man may hold the missing piece to the puzzle.
Detective Senior Constable Amy Perrin said the house had been abandoned for about four years but would probably need to be demolished after fire ripped through the house.
“We believe unknown offenders have set three seats on fire in three separate rooms of the house,” DSC Perrin said.
“We are liasing with council about having it condemned and demolished.”
DSC Perrin said there were no suspects at the moment, but a neighbour had reported seeing a man wearing a red bandana leaving the address just before he noticed the house was on fire.
Anyone with information is asked to contact DSC Perrin at Dandenong CIU or call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
