Hunt for firebugs

By Casey Neill

Greater Dandenong police are investigating three fires in three days in Dandenong and Noble Park.

Two were at the same location, an abandoned house at 170 Foster Street.

A shed at the rear of the property was set alight on Thursday 26 April.

CFA crews attended and extinguished the blaze before it could spread.

Police said there were signs of squatters living at the site.

About 7.40pm on Monday 30 April, fire broke out in shrubs in the front yard of the property.

The CFA again attended and extinguished the fire.

Police are making inquiries with Greater Dandenong Council in a bid to track down an owner.

In Noble Park, vandals set a wheelie bin alight at the intersection of Veronica Court and Vallota Crescent about 11.30pm on Friday 27 April.

Five youths were seen running from the area.

CFA attended to extinguish the fire, and police attended and conducted a search.

They were not able to locate those responsible. No other property was damaged.

Call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 with any information on the fires.
