FIRE caused hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage to a recycling factory in Dandenong South on Monday.
A passer-by called fire crews to Veolia Environmental Services’ Ordish Road premises about 6.40am.
By the time firefighters arrived, flames had fully engulfed the cardboard, paper and plastic recycling plant.
Police attended and determined the blaze’s cause was not suspicious.
Smoke was visible in Dandenong South and neighbouring suburbs for most of the public holiday and traffic was diverted away from the area for six hours.
