SPRINGVALE was transformed into a winter wonderland on Sunday, with 10,000 people turning out for the inaugural Snow Fest.
The rain held off and crowds, including many thrilled children, packed into Buckingham and Balmoral avenues to try out the snow play area, rides, slides and activities. Other highlights included cultural dances, snowman building and ice sculpting.
A long queue formed for the snow play area, with many children getting the chance to slip and slide on snow for the first time.
Greater Dandenong Council manager of community engagement Lee Robson said the event was extremely successful.
“The happy faces of the children playing in the snow were a delight to see.”
