Bands battle it out

By MIKE TZOUNIS

SIX up-and-coming bands will battle it out at The Castle in Dandenong for prizes and the chance to perform in the regional Battle of the Bands final.
The City of Greater Dandenong’s youth services team, Muso Network and Meltdown have announced this year’s Freeza Push Start Battle of the Bands heat for 24 August.
The regional final winner will perform at next year’s Pushover Festival, which traditionally attracts large crowds and hosts plenty of prominent Australian and international acts.
The festival aims to give young bands a head start in the music industry and an opportunity to showcase their talents.
Headlining the show will be Melbourne-based Feed Her to the Sharks, which released album Savage Seas in May.
Last year’s heat winner Death by Six will also perform as a supporting act.
The bands battling it out are The Ashyards, Infamous 506, Little League, Melody Clare and the Barefoot Bandits, The Painted Bears, Robots and Aliens and To the Gallows.
Entry is $10, or $8 with any promotional material.
There will be no smoking, no drugs and no alcohol and the event is fully supervised.
