SALVAGING a draw, Dandenong Thunder rallied in the rain to overturn a two-goal deficit against Pascoe Vale on Friday night.
In conditions better suited for ducks at Hosken Reserve, the Thunder couldn’t strike early, missing crucial chances in the first half as Pascoe Vale capitalised.
Joseph Youssef found the back of the Thunder net in the 23rd minute, followed shortly before the main break as Luca Santilli feasted on a well-placed corner to take a 2-0 lead in the 42nd minute.
The maestro Sean McIlroy slotted his third goal in three games to reduce the gap to one – with Keegan Zaida and Craig Elvin playing the striker in, who finished the job past Stefan Sardelic in the 64th minute.
The equaliser came off the reliable boot of captain Shane Rexhepi in the 80th minute, a penalty given as Adrian Talarico grabbed Thunder’s Eric Frazier at a corner.
Dandenong has a three-point buffer on ninth place Oakleigh Cannons and has the chance to improve their record tomorrow night (Friday) against Melbourne Knights.
Kick-off is 8.30pm at George Andrews Reserve, Dandenong.
In FFV State League 2 South East – Dandenong City faltered against South Springvale 0-3, following goals to Zois Galanopoulos, Danny Kelly and Craig Metcalfe, Springvale White Eagles went to top of the table with a 2-1 win over Diamond Valley United.
