Charges follow syringe car-jacking

By CASEY NEILL

A FRANKSTON man is in custody over a car-jacking at syringe-point at Dandenong Plaza last month.
Police charged the 25-year-old with armed robbery, theft of a motor vehicle, conduct endangering persons, robbery and pursuit-related offences.
He faced a filing hearing at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court last Tuesday and was remanded to reappear in July.
Greater Dandenong Embona Detective Senior Constable Jodie Stoll alleged the car stolen from the McCrae Street car park about 1.30pm on 29 March was three weeks later involved in a police pursuit in Melton.
“The driver was identified during the pursuit,” Sen Const Stoll said.
“The car was recovered the following day.”
She alleged the charged man stole another car in Melton and drove it back to Frankston, where police arrested him on 18 April.
“He committed similar offences in Frankston,” she said.
