A THREE-WAY alliance of naval veterans was sealed at Dandenong RSL last Tuesday.
Veterans who served on HMAS Bataan, HMAS Warramunga and HMAS Arunta joined forces for an annual tribal luncheon.
The guest speaker was Lieutenant Commander Greg Ryan who runs the HMAS Cerberus training centre in Hastings.
HMAS Bataan Veterans Association secretary John Laughton said an historic tie was forged between the Bataan and Warramunga crews during a treacherous operation during the Korean War.
In a successful seven-hour operation, the ships evaded mine fields and surmounted rough seas and snowstorms to rescue wounded UN troops and Korean refugees.
