Detective Senior Constable Kane Taylor of Greater Dandenong CIU said the pair had been playing on a laptop using a nearby home’s WiFi connection when their car’s driver-side rear-quarter panel was shot about 10pm on 27 July.
He said a firearm had been allegedly discharged from a passing car, described as small and light-coloured.
