MORE than $33,000 in donations have flooded in for a nurse who was left in an induced coma with head injuries after an incident in Springvale South.
Kane Quinn is in a critical but stable condition in The Alfred hospital after regaining consciousness last week.
The 38-year-old married father of two was placed in an induced coma after he and a colleague, 43, approached a man in a McKay Street park about 10pm on 6 March.
Mr Quinn was described as a long-time and respected Monash Medical Centre Emergency Department employee.
Monash Health and the Australian Nurses and Midwifery Foundation (ANMF) Victorian branch launched the Kane Quinn Family Support Fund to support his family.
ANMF state secretary Lisa Fitzpatrick urged the community to match Mr Quinn’s generous spirit to help him and his family through the recovery process.
“As a registered nurse, Kane worked hard to ease suffering and get many Victorians back on their feet,“ she said.
“Let’s repay Kane’s commitment to care.”
On the ANMF Facebook page, Danielle Quittner Grossman said Mr Quinn was a lovely person and a fantastic, dedicated nurse.
“He is someone who would not hesitate to help a stranger in need. This is so awful,” she said.
Glenn Porter described Mr Quinn as “a dedicated and wonderful nurse” and said it was a pleasure to work with him.
“I’m keeping everything crossed for him to make a full recovery if that’s at all possible,” he said.
“It’s the least that should happen for him and his family.”
Chris Mulligan said the world needed more people like Mr Quinn and urged him to “hang in there, mate”.
