Inspired to keep trying for career

LYNDALE Secondary College students got a taste of working life after school during a recent work “inspiration” course.
Over three days, the students got a behind-the-scenes look at different jobs at employment agency Acquire Learning – such as IT, business operations and media.
Then they talked about the types of vocations that suited each of their personalities, and got one-to-one advice on how to crack those jobs.
Year 11 student Natasha Kaboukas, 17, who is undecided between pursuing disability work and teaching art, said Acquire employees told her about their struggles to find the ideal job.
“One said you’ve just got to keep your head up.
“If I don’t get the entry score I want, there are always other pathways.”
The Work Inspiration program is a partnership between Acquire Learning and benevolent charity The Smith Family.
The charity’s chief executive Dr Lisa O’Brien said such meaningful work experience helped children break the cycle of disadvantage.
