Vigilante call to action

A GREATER Dandenong resident says he’s fed up with police inaction and will take the law into his own hands.
The man said on his Facebook page that about 7pm one evening, up to eight youths of African appearance were climbing over his neighbour’s two-metre high back fence from Dandenong North Primary School.
“He called police and they failed to turn up,” the man said.
“I arrived after his call to me and called the police two times yet no show, so we went after the perps with baseball bats.
“Then the police arrived and guess what? They did JACK S***.
“So now it is on. We the residents are taking back our streets.”
The man told police he was “fed up with your inaction” and said “if you can’t do the job then we will and we can”.
Greater Dandenong Inspector Bruce Kitchen said he wouldn’t comment on individual matters that appeared on Facebook.
“I do not encourage members of the public to take the law into their own hands,” he said.
“This is fraught with danger of somebody being seriously injured.
“If members of the public are unhappy with the police attendance or behaviour I would ask that they send a letter to the officer in charge of the police station where the incident occurred so we can address any inappropriate behaviour or find out what happened.”
