Vietnam’s positive impact

PHOTOGRAPHS celebrating Vietnamese settlement in Australia are now on display.
Multicultural Affairs Minister Robin Scott on Saturday 7 November launched the Vietnamese in Australia: 40 Years of Settlement exhibition at the Immigration Museum in Melbourne.
The Vietnamese Community in Australia’s (VCA) Victorian Chapter organised the exhibition to mark 40 years since the first Vietnamese migrants settled in Australia in 1975 post-Vietnam War.
Today more than 11,700 Greater Dandenong residents were born in Vietnam, according to the 2011 census.
“In the last 40 years, the Vietnamese community has touched every aspect of Victorian life – be it their culture, music, cuisine or language,” Mr Scott said.
“Their greatest contribution has been themselves and as a community they have made Victoria better and stronger through their hard work and dedication.”
