An anonymous donation has Greater Dandenong SES members jumping for joy.
The crew last week received the cash to upgrade the lighting it carries on its rescue trucks.
Greater Dandenong Councillor Angela Long organised the donation, from a long-term resident of the city who recognised the unit’s value but wanted to remain anonymous.
“Much of the work we do is at night, where we need to deploy extensive lighting to provide a safe workspace for our volunteers,” Greater Dandenong SES acting controller Shane Bolton said.
“In addition, we are regularly called upon to provide lighting for police and ambulance at crime scenes and other events.
“It is the generosity of the community like this that helps us provide a better, more reliable and faster response to the City of Greater Dandenong.
“With this new LED lighting we are able to deploy more lighting, more quickly and with improved reliability, overall providing a better outcome for the community.”
