A man has been injured after he was hit with a baton and robbed as he got into a taxi in Dandenong North.
Police released a CCTV image following the armed robbery which occurred about 4.15am on Tuesday 18 October.
The 48-year-old victim was entering the taxi on Belmont Avenue when the man armed with a baton approached him and demanded money.
The thief struck the victim with the baton before stealing his mobile phone.
He got into a dark-coloured vehicle, possibly a Ford sedan, which turned right onto Oakwood Avenue.
The victim sustained minor injuries.
His attacker is described as dark-skinned and was wearing a face mask and a chequered cap at the time.
