A NOBLE Park mother of three has appeared in court after police seized heroin, ice, ecstasy, GHB, cannabis, $500 cash and a Taser from her home.
Sarom Kann, 25, appeared in Dandenong Magistrates’ Court via video link from Dame Phyllis Frost prison, pleading guilty to trafficking, drug-driving and weapons charges on 24 October.
After the drug raid on 16 September, Kann told police she was trafficking as income support because she owed $40,000 to Centrelink.
In June and July, Kann was intercepted driving two different stolen cars with a variety of drugs including ice, cannabis, GHB and serboxin inside in Noble Park and Springvale.
In August, she was driving a Corolla in Springvale containing ice, ecstasy, two knives and a “rock” of heroin, and a male passenger in “extreme delirium”.
Kann also pleaded guilty to assaulting a bus passenger by grabbing her around the head and pulling her hair at the Dandenong station terminus in March.
The court was told the accused was a carer for her late mother, couldn’t find work and lost hope as she succumbed to a heavy cocktail of alcohol, ice and vodka in recent months.
Magistrate Jack Vandersteen noted Kann’s 38 days in remand custody, her age, limited criminal history and her stable, supportive partner.
He sentenced Kann to an 18-month rehab-focused community corrections order and disqualified her licence for eight months.
