20 injured in bank fire

[ UPDATE: 1.40pm ] Ambulance Victoria has updated the injury toll to 27 people.
Six people with serious burns have been taken to The Alfred hospital.
Another 21 people were injured, including three children.
All have breathing problems and are in a stable condition.
Ten of those were taken to Monash Medical Centre and 11 were taken to Dandenong Hospital.
The Commonwealth Bank confirmed in a statement that an incident had occurred at its Springvale branch.
“Our first priority is the safety of our staff and customers and as a result the branch will remain closed for the rest of the day,” it said.
“Our response team is on site, and we are working closely with local authorities and emergency services.”

A MAN has allegedly attempted to set fire to a Springvale bank, injuring himself and 20 other people.
CFA crews responded to reports of a man on fire at the Springvale Road Commonwealth Bank building about 11.30am on Friday 18 November.
A Victoria Police spokesperson said officers responded to reports that a man had allegedly set fire to the building.
Police evacuated the bank and closed Springvale Road in both directions.
Officers accompanied the man to The Alfred hospital. He was in a serious condition.
Ambulance Victoria said another four people suffered serious burns and were also taken to The Alfred.
Another 16 other people, including two children, had breathing problems.
Paramedics treated them at the scene and transported them to the Monash and Dandenong hospitals in a stable condition.
