Vandals’ fuel tank fire bid

Vandals pushed paper into a stolen car’s fuel tank and set it alight in a Dandenong street.
But Greater Dandenong CIU Senior Constable Riley Wesley said that unlike in the movies, the silver Kia Cerato didn’t go up in flames.
“The fire burnt itself out,” he said.
Sen Const Wesley appealed for witnesses to the incident, which occurred in Herbert Street about 11.30am on Thursday 23 February.
He said the vandals forced open the petrol cap before lighting the fire.
Call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 with any information.
