Answering a knock at his front door left a Dandenong man with cuts to his face.
Detective Senior Constable Brendan Fontana said the victim was drinking in his Clow Street home with a friend when he heard the knock about 1am on Friday 31 March.
He opened the door to find three men of African appearance.
They pushed him into the house and punched him to the head, causing a small laceration to his forehead and minor cuts to his upper lip.
The trio then left the premises. The victim attended Dandenong Police Station and reported the assault.
Det Sen Const Fontana said one of the three men might have been an acquaintance of the victim’s friend but police had not arrested anyone over the incident.
He urged anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 33 000.
