New magic for children’s play

Waverley Gardens Shopping Centre is set to unveil its highly anticipated new custom-built children’s playground this Saturday, 16 September.
The new playground will replace the centre’s Magic Garden Playground and will cater for children of all age groups.
The playground’s reveal will be complete with a booked out Morning Tea Garden Party and from 9.30am to 12.30pm free face painting, arts and craft, entertainment and giveaways will be available for everyone to enjoy.
As Centre Manager Belinda Donnelly and Marketing Manager Jodie Lee Murphy explained, the new playground, which will be constructed by Play On, caters for all ages and is designed to fit into the centre’s distinguishable garden theme.
“The old playground wasn’t as interactive and we have the new playground in the food court for the little kids, so we wanted something to suit a wider age group and that’s what we’ve been able to achieve here,” Ms Donnelly said.
“The old playground only catered for young children where this one will cater for both age groups from toddlers to older children up to 12 year olds.
“For the older children we’ve incorporated a climbing hut with rope ladders as well as a slide, and for the younger children we have some soft play elements in line with our centre’s garden theme which includes a log tunnel, a dragon fly and a caterpillar.”
The new playground will come as the latest addition to Waverley Gardens’ ambience upgrades which commenced in 2016.
With another smaller custom-built playground installed last year and the centre’s parents’ rooms having recently completed their makeovers, Ms Murphy said the refurbishments will continue to keep families in the community at the forefront of Waverley Gardens’ purpose.
“I think that having two custom-built playgrounds is a major point of difference at Waverley Gardens and gives our community a meeting place for their families and friends to enjoy,” Ms Murphy said.
